Leslie E. Grant, D.D.S., M.S.P.A.

Director of Advocacy & Outreach

Dr. Leslie E. Grant is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. She graduated from high school in Gary, Indiana, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University. Dr. Grant went on to obtain a Master of Speech Pathology and Audiology Degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. She has worked at the Washington State Cerebral Palsy Center, The Kennedy Hospital for Children in Boston and for the North Jersey Developmental Center in Totowa, New Jersey, with physically challenged children.

Dr. Grant entered the University of Maryland Dental School in 1982 and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1986. She completed a General Practice Residency at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey in June of 1987. Currently, Dr. Grant practices general dentistry in Baltimore City and also provides community based oral health care services with the Baltimore City Health Department.

In her spare time Dr. Grant pursues interests in pediatric feeding and swallowing disabilities, and forensic odontology. She is actively involved in community based, grassroots and professional organizations. She served on the Board of Directors of “HERO”, a local AIDS resource organization from 1994 through 2000. She has also donated a day of dental services to Healthcare for the Homeless. Dr. Grant is a member of The League of Women Voters, Jack and Jill of America, and a life member of the NAACP. In 1999 she planned and participated in a dental mission to San Roque, El Salvador. She returned to El Salvador for additional mission work in June, 2002.

Dr. Grant served as Secretary of the Maryland Dental Society, a component of the National Dental Association, from 1989 through 1994. She represented her society in the NDA House of Delegates from 1993 through 1998. In 1998 Dr. Grant was elected as the first woman Speaker of the House of Delegates. She served in that capacity for five years. Dr. Grant is the 2006 Past President of the NDA.

Dr. Grant and her husband, David Bush are the proud parents of eleven year old Evan.
